A few weeks ago I wrote a post about focusing on the next three things you want to do this year. I put WRITE A BOOK at the top of this list. Because of this, I re-prioritized my vacation time, and created my own Do-It-Yourself Writer’s Retreat for five days. My goal was to finish my book, Create More Better Different before I turned 40.
I didn’t quite attain this goal. But that hasn’t stopped me from feeling positively euphoric. I have built up a huge momentum. I am writing every day, and I have more than half of the book done. I kept lamenting that there is nothing like Kickstarter in Canada, where people can pledge money to your artistic cause. But then it hit me: I can do it myself again. I can be my own kickstarter. So today I created my own bootstrap bookstarter using a Paypal account for donations, and a Google Form to capture essential data. Within an hour I already had orders! (You know who you are. Thank you!)
Here’s the deal: for $5, you get your name in my book. You also get a rough draft when it is finished, and a complete digital copy when it is finally released. The money will go toward an editor and an illustrator, and whatever else it takes to make this book more, better, and different from all the other creative books out there.
If you are interested, you can donate here. After all, it is my birthday on February 19th, this Sunday… so if you were thinking of getting me anything I can assure you this would be the ideal gift. ;-)
